Across all women’s health services in Camden, from screening to pregnancy assessment units and perinatal mental health services, we’re focusing on improving uptake, standardising services and ensuring equity of access so that all women across the borough can benefit.
The new cervical screening register for smear-takers, due to launch shortly, aims to allow better monitoring of sample-takers and assist in identification when managing incidents. This is in order to improve the overall quality and safety of the cervical cytology service. We’re also working to standardise our early pregnancy assessment units to improve access and avoid women ending up in A&E. In contraception, we want to introduce cross-referral for IUCDs as many GPs don’t offer this service.
In recent months, new pathways have been mapped for seven gynaecological conditions (see below). And don't forget: Camden now has a new IVF policy in response to the new national one.
