Counselling, support and advice, screening and health promotion to those with, or at risk of, sickle cell and thalassaemia based in Holloway and provided by Whittington Hospital.

The sickle cell support group, Red Cells R Us, meets on first Friday of the month from 18:00-21:00 at the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre.


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

  • Adults and children with any type of haemoglobin disorders, such as sickle cell disease or thalassaemia
  • Antenatal women with abnormal haemoglobin who are routinely referred from the maternity department at Whittington Hospital
  • New babies of Camden residents referred from the new-born screening programme for sickle cell disease
  • Members of the public self-referring for information, blood testing or genetic counselling

Self referrals accepted, including from carers and family members.
