As part of the national ACE Programme, a Multidisciplinary Diagnostic Centre (MDC) has been set up at UCLH, Royal Free and North Middlesex University Hospital to deliver a rapid diagnostic pathway for patients with the following cancer symptoms.

*Please note: Royal Free is not currently accepting referrals.*

  • New unexplained abdominal pain: between three weeks and six months, unless very serious or urgent and a new persistent symptom or significant abdominal pain presenting at least twice in previous month
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • New and persistent unexplained nausea/loss of appetite
  • Painless jaundice: bilirubin > 50 mmol/l, no likely benign cause
  • GP gut feeling/persistent patient or family concern for GI cancer: please describe reason for GI cancer suspicion

Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

  • Symptoms highly suggestive of cancer AND either
    • have concerning symptoms that do not fit an existing 2WW pathway OR
    • too unwell to wait two weeks for first appointment but don't need admission
