RFH

Drop-in service for anyone (including relatives and friends) affected by, or who would like information on, every aspect of cancer. Managed by a Macmillan cancer information specialist and supported by trained volunteers. Information is available in languages other than English, plus audio CDs and tapes. Free, guided Internet access. 

Information and support about:

  • specific cancers, their treatments and effects
  • financial, social and practical issues
  • how cancer affects your life
  • complementary therapies and how to access them
  • local support groups
  • cancer prevention and healthy lifestyles
  • referrals to the Macmillan/CAB benefits service
  • referrals to the cancer counsellors (oncology, haematology)
  • referrals to the chaplaincy service

UCLH

Offers advice and support to anyone affected by cancer or a haematological condition, including family and carers, at any stage of their care pathway – from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.

The service provides:

  • Emotional support and information
  • Booklets and leaflets about cancer types, haematological conditions and many other topics
  • Welfare and benefits advice
  • Wig and scarf-tying advice
  • Complementary therapies, such as massage and relaxation
  • Diet and nutrition advice
  • Psychological care and counselling
  • A wellbeing programme of workshops, courses, events, and support groups, including ​​Cancer Support Group and Haematology Support Group (see Downloads)

For all cancer patients in Camden (regardless of whether they are patients or not at RF or UCLH)

Drop-in for Macmillan information: Mon–Thurs, 10:00–16:00, Fri 10:00–13:00
Drop-in for welfare benefits: Fri 10:00–13:00
Information specialist available Mon–Thurs; trained volunteers at other times

UCLH

Self-referral

Support and information drop-in: Mon–Fri, 09.30–17:00
Welfare and benefits drop-in: Tues and Thurs, 11.30–13.30
The timings of the drop-ins may sometimes change, so please advise patients to phone before coming to make sure the drop-ins are running.
