POhWER 

  • Provides time-limited, issue-based, one-to-one advocacy to support people with learning disabilities.
  • Supports people to speak up about their care, the services they use and any other issues relating to their conditions.
  • Provides NHS complaints advocacy.
  • Provides people with information on local services and signpost them to other services, where appropriate.

Camden People First

  • One-to-one advocacy support, including benefit re-assessments and appeals, safeguarding and support plans.
  • Advice and support for housing, welfare benefits; for general advice and advocacy support, t: 10:0–12:00 and drop-in times: Wed 14:00–16:00.
  • Peer and group advocacy.
  • Disability hate and mate crime advice and advocacy support; DHMC t: Tues 10:00–12:00 and drop-in times: Mon 14:00–16:00.
  • Volunteering opportunities.
  • Social activities, including discos and healthy-eating events.

SURGE (Speaking Up Rights Group Experts)

Groups to help people with learning disabilities have a say in their health and social care services.

  • SURGE interest group – talks about issues within health, employment and housing. Meets on the last Tuesday of each month, 10:30–12:30.
  • Health Matters – talks about health services in Camden. Meets on first Friday of each month, 10:30–12:30.
  • Pop-up groups on a topic in different places and at different times.

Those living in Camden or registered with a Camden GP, aged 16 and above with a learning disability.

Camden People First

Adults with learning and multiple disabilities, including profound learning disabilities, living in Camden.

SURGE

Adults living in Camden with a learning disability.

Self-referral or third-party referral available.

Third-party referrals via email, phone or letter. Self-referrals can be made via drop-in or phone.
