The CCG updated its fertility policy in January 2015 (see Downloads), following the publication of new NICE guidance (see external links) in February 2013 (CG156). For key changes see the briefing notes in Downloads.

Patients are usually referred to UCLH, St Mary’s Hospital or the Whittington Hospital.

If assisted conception is offered, the fertility clinic will refer to tertiary care, usually the Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health (CRGH) or the Hammersmith Hospital. GPs cannot refer directly to tertiary care.


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

Specific tests are required prior to referral to fertility clinics and day 2–7 oestradiol is also needed. Please refer to the Infertility Pathway attachment. Minimum requirements are as follows.

Female

  • Rubella status
  • Haemoglobinopathy screening if indicated
  • Day 2-7 LH/FSH
  • Chlamydia status
