Patients with facial pain (pain in the face, mouth or jaws) that has persisted for at least 3 months. The clinic cares for patients with:

  • burning mouth syndrome
  • rare facial pains (post herpetic neuralgia and neuropathic pain)
  • persistent idiopathic facial pain of non-dental origin (previously termed atypical facial pain)
  • trigeminal neuralgia – primary and secondary
  • trigeminal neuropathic pain
  • TMD pain/myofacial pain
  • orofacial pain complicated by other factors such as psychiatric or personality disorders, or psychological problems.

The clinic does not accept patients with dental pain, headaches or migraines.


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

  • Aged 18 or over (currently children are only seen in exceptional circumstances)
  • Registered with a dental practitioner – details must be provided with referral
