This service is for adults and children with complex needs who find it difficult to use general dental services e.g. people with learning disabilities and/or communication difficulties, housebound patients, homeless patients, severely phobic patients.


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

Children (15 years or below):

  • Anxious or uncooperative with accepting dental care
  • Physical disabilities, learning disabilities or medical conditions requiring special dental care
  • Specialist care e.g. sedation, management of trauma, hypoplastic teeth
  • 'Looked after' or considered 'at risk'

Adults (16 years and above):

  • Moderate and severe learning disabilities and physical disabilities
  • Adults with severe mental health problems, severe anxiety or phobia where treatment has proved to be unsuccessful
  • Medical conditions that require special provision
  • Older people with physical or mental disabilities
  • Housebound people
  • Homeless people, or those with substance misuse
