Urgent service providing same day care for patients with acute medical conditions. Located on the ground floor of UCLH – adjacent to A&E on the Elizabeth Garret Anderson wing.
Able to carry out urgent diagnostics if required (e.g. MRI, CT, Doppler and ultrasound).
Please note: this service does not include intravenous antibiotics administration – please see OPAT service.
Patients who can most likely be managed without an overnight stay, for example:
- low risk chest pain
- pulmonary embolism
- pleural effusion
- acute headache
- lower GI haemorrhage
- mild community-acquired pneumonia (CAP)
- newly diagnosed type 1 DM
- ureteric colic (renal colic)
- Patients under 18
- Patients who require intravenous antibiotics administration
How to Refer
GP referrals via telephone to on-call consultant.
