A message from Royal Free Hospital:
Dear GP Colleague
At the Royal Free Hospital (RFH), we have been reviewing our phlebotomy service to ensure that we are delivering high quality care.
To make sure our patients are getting the best experience possible, from 21 November, the RFH (Pond Street, Hampstead) will be introducing the same Swiftqueue online appointment system for adult blood tests that our other sites use (Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital and Edgware Community Hospital) to book adult blood tests. There will be no changes to paediatric blood tests and patients can continue to walk in to use the service without a booking.
Patients will be able to book their appointments themselves from 1 November for appointments from 21 November onwards. The aim is to have slots available for patients within 24 hours.
If your patient requires an urgent blood test (within the same working day) please document this on the TQuest form by writing urgent/same day either on the TQuest form free text box or manually. If manually, please validate with your practice stamp/GP signature in order for the patient to walk in and be seen on the same day with the appropriate clinical indication.
We will be maintaining the same amount of capacity each day and the opening times will remain as:
- 7.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday
- 8am to 1pm on Saturdays
If patients are unable to book online they will be able to call the booking line: 020 7443 9757, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
We enclose a patient information leaflet for your patients with details on how to book appointments.
We have been working with our lead commissioner, Barnet CCG, to help ensure that this new system works the best that it can for patients. We will be reviewing feedback and how the new system is working on a regular basis.
