There have been a number of concerns regarding MSK referrals not being processed in a timely or appropriate manner.
They have established an agreed path for patients and practice staff. If a patient fails to respond to the MSK Service 5 days after the first phone call, their referral will not be processed and they will be advised to return to their GP for a new referral.
However if a patient contacts the MSK Service within a month of the referral date, the service will re-activate the referral without the necessity of returning to their GP.
