As HPV primary screening within the cervical screening programme has now been rolled out to all CCGs, other programme guidelines are being implemented to align with this move. The guidelines recommend that individuals who have been discharged from colposcopy following treatment have their next routine cervical screen six months after discharge. Colposcopy services have commenced discharging women back to their GP as per the guidelines.

Additional Service

The GP Contract Additional Service for Cervical Screening covers screening for patients identified by NHSE/I as recommended nationally for a test and who have agreed to participate in the NHS Cervical Screening Programme. As such, screening in accordance with the recommended recall of six months would be included as part of the Additional Service by NHSE/I.
