This half-day training course is suitable for Registered Nurses, Midwives, Health Care Assistants and any other clinicians whose role involves taking blood.
The training is interactive and uses a problem solving approach to cover the theoretical aspects including anatomy and physiology, vein recognition, infection prevention, skin preperation and equipment selection. Attendees will also have the opportunity to practice the skill of phlebotomy under supervision and learn how to manage complications.
A workbook will be issued on the day which will require candidates to complete practical assessments in the clinical area as well as theoretical activities pertaining to the knowledge gained on the study day. Further independent study may be required o complete the assessment workbook upon which a certificate of competence will be issued.
