Dr Imogen Staveley, Cancer Clinical Lead Camden CCG, will be leading the next NCL Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant cancer education session.
This year we are pleased to have Claire Cohen, Head of Information and Education at Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust who will be giving us an update from the sector on cervical cancer prevention and a presentation on new data on barriers to cervical screening uptake and activities undertaken by CCGs and local authorities to improve uptake. There will also be an opportunity for us to consider what may be influencing cervical screening uptake in our boroughs and a chance for you to share experiences from your surgery and share best practice examples of increasing uptake.
This will be followed by an interactive session on Very Brief Advice (VBA) in the context of cancer prevention. The session will highlight the links between cancer and smoking, obesity and alcohol and describe the evidence for Very Brief Advice (VBA) on behaviour changes to reduce cancer risk. We will use case studies and give practical explanations on how to deliver effective VBAs in time pressured consultations in as little as 30 seconds. This session will be led by Cancer Research UK.
